Mary Anne Ruddis was happily married when her toddler daughter was diagnosed with cancer. Though she fought bravely, a secondary cancer caused by treatment took her life. Soon after, Mary Anne’s husband was also diagnosed. She cared for both her daughter and husband at the same time—until she lost them both.

Determined to survive, Mary Anne moved to another state with her two young sons to start over. Then tragedy struck again when her older son was diagnosed with cancer, and the nightmare returned.
