Listener Reviews

Interesting and very helpful
This podcast provides very helpful and actionable information. It’s for anybody and everybody, not just people with immediate health concerns. Robin Shapiro presents practical guidance on the kinds of language and communication issues that get in the way of good healthcare. I’ve worked in and around healthcare myself for many years and learned new things from the first two episodes and look forward to more in the next ones.
Wish I knew then
As I listened to this podcast, I kept thinking I wish I had this information when I was dealing with my parents and in-laws’ health issues years ago. Robin does a marvelous job sharing critical information on why you need a health advocate and practical steps to find/become one. Her interview with Anne Llewelyn highlights through good storytelling what steps you can take now to be prepared for those difficult situations we really don’t want to think about. Thank you Robin for tackling this difficult topic head on and providing great show notes so I could really listen and not worry about taking notes.
Story telling w practical tips
I love how Shapiro draws stories from her guests so that their advice doesn’t just sound like impersonal expertise—they are based on real experiences, addressing real fears her audience care about
How to get what you need from our healthcare system
I learned so many ways to self advocate, advocate for loved ones and that I should not hesitate to ask for help if/when I need it. Robin provided multiple tools and concrete methods for getting the best out of doctors appointments and strategies for making all important healthcare decisions. Everyone should know these simple things!
Crucial information for getting the best healthcare
